Sunday Series 3
Sunday 17 November | 2:30pm | Malvern Town Hall
Join Artistic Director Roy Theaker in an all-American program as we bring to a close the 2019 Sunday Series.
Gershwin's self-professed "rhapsodic ballet" is a stunning example of programmatic music that evokes a scene using a variety of compositional devices and jazzy harmonies.
Stonnington Symphony welcomes Anthony Barnhill, winner of the prestigeous Rob Guest Endowment Musician Award and Musical Director of the current Opera Australia tour of West Side Story to play Gershwin's iconic Rhapsody in Blue.
We close this program with Copland's monumental Symphony No.3 often described as 'The Great American Symphony' that features the composers own Fanfare for the Common Man in its triumphant final movement.
